Allen McCutchan

Dr. McCutchan graduated from Yale University Medical School, completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt and Yale-New Haven Hospital, and was an Infectious Diseases Fellow at UCSD. After joining the UCSD Faculty, he received a Milbank Fellowship to study epidemiology at the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine of the University of London. After receiving a Master of Science degree, he was a Research Fellow in Genitourinary Medicine at the Middlesex Hospital , London. Dr McCutchan has studied aspects of HIV infection since the early 1980s as Founder and Director of the California Collaborative Treatment Group and an investigator in the AIDS Clinical Trails Group. He co-directs the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center (HNRC), a multidisciplinary research effort studying the HIV in the nervous system. He has also contributed to a numerous papers describing the neurology and neuropsychology of HIV. He serves as the Director of the UCSD Site for CHARTER and has chaired the metabolic substudy of CHARTER.
